A vegetation fire in Kearny Mesa Saturday afternoon grew to about two-and-a-half acres and disrupted traffic along state Route 52 and Convoy Street, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Firefighters responded to the area southeast of the Convoy Street interchange with SR 52 shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, and soon after called for aerial support and a first-alarm response.

By 3:30 p.m. Saturday, firefighters had declared the fire contained and planned to remain on scene for another two hours.
