Houston-area mayor released on bond after indecent exposure arrest

  • August 23, 2026

LA MARQUE, Texas (KBTX) – La Marque Mayor Keith Bell is out on a $75,000 bond after being arrested Friday on a charge of indecent exposure, the city said.

Bell was arrested in Brazoria County. The city said the arrest stemmed from something unrelated to his duties as mayor.

His bond comes with conditions: he can’t contact the woman who filed the complaint, go near her home, or go near the school she attends, according to a city update posted Saturday.

The city said Bell hasn’t reached out to staff since his release, and city leaders haven’t been in touch with him either.

Under the city’s charter, Bell stays in office unless he steps down or is removed through the process laid out in that document and under state law.

“To the residents of La Marque, we recognize that this is a shocking and disheartening development during a period that has already brought significant uncertainty and challenges to our community,” the city said in its first statement on the arrest. “We understand and share your concerns.”
