Irving Police said a wrong-way driver accused of driving intoxicated caused a fatal head-on collision Saturday morning.

Police said a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of SH114 near Hidden Ridge crashed into a motorcycle around 2:40 a.m.

The motorcyclist died at the scene, according to the Irving Police Department.

A spokesperson for Irving Police said officers arrested the driver, who they said was intoxicated. A passenger was also arrested, accused of public intoxication.

Officers shut down SH114 for more than 6 hours as police finished their investigation and cleared the scene.

The roads were reopened by 9:30 a.m.
