PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It’s a First Alert Weather Day for extreme heat. An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect for the Valley through Saturday, and all of the next six days will be First Alert days.
Late-night thunderstorms have fizzled, but lingering rain continues this morning in parts of the Valley. Look for mostly cloudy skies and a chance of a few showers for the morning hours.
This afternoon, expect mostly sunny skies and a high of 109 degrees. The late-August heat continues to build this week as high pressure moves right over Arizona. This will bump highs to near-record or record territory Tuesday through Thursday. Look for afternoon highs near 114 to 116 degrees those days with warm morning lows in the low 90s.
Storm chances will be slim for the Valley this week, returning to the slight category for Friday night. Storm chances bump up slightly to about 10 to 20 percent for Saturday night and Sunday night. By Sunday, afternoon temperatures will finally fall to below 110 degrees.
