PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Today is expected to be sunny and hot in the Valley, with a forecast high of 111 degrees. That’s five degrees above normal for this time of year, and four degrees shy of the daily heat record.
Strong high pressure over the region will keep temperatures very hot through the end of the week and through the weekend. Currently, monsoon moisture is limited to eastern Arizona, keeping storm chances slim across the rest of the state. Weather models continue to indicate a chance of rain in the Valley late Thursday and early Friday, but the chances are currently only around 20%.
Dry air is likely over the weekend, allowing temperatures to stay fairly high. Look for a high of 112 degrees on Friday, 113 degrees on Saturday and 111 degrees on Sunday. Storm chances are near 10-20% in the mountains this weekend, and the Valley looks to stay hot, dry and quiet from any storms.
Looking ahead to next week, models are trending toward a stronger ridge of high pressure setting up, which could bring some even hotter temperatures for the second half of next week. We’ll keep you updated.
