PHOENIX (AZFamily) — First Alert Days and an extreme heat warning remain in effect through Saturday, with an air quality alert active Tuesday for the Valley and central Arizona due to high ozone levels.
Expect a brief reprieve Monday with early clouds and showers keeping highs around 109 degrees.
However, the extreme heat returns Tuesday. After overnight lows in the upper 80s, Tuesday’s forecast of 114 degrees threatens to break the 2011 record of 113 degrees.
Wednesday will likely be the hottest day of the week at 116 degrees (just shy of the 117-degree record), followed by 115 degrees on Thursday (record: 114 degrees), 112 degrees on Friday and 110 degrees on Saturday. We may see a slight cooldown to 107 degrees by Sunday.
While the workweek looks mostly dry, a shifting weather pattern brings a slight chance of rain late next weekend into early next week.
