JACKSONVILLE – One day at a time.
That is how Brian Thomas Jr. is approaching the final week of 2026 Training Camp, which is how he approached the offseason. And the early part of training camp. With the regular season fast approaching, the Jaguars’ third-year receiver continues to focus on the present.
For him, that starts with practices such as Day 18 of amp at the Miller Electric Center Monday, a 90-minute walkthrough as the Jaguars prepare to host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for joint practices Tuesday and Wednesday.
“I just want to finish out these joints strong, and then get ready, get my body ready, get ready for the season,” Thomas said Monday. “Really just taking it day by day, staying focused on the task at hand.”
Thomas’ efforts in practices have been lauded by the Jaguars since the spring offseason program, with the 2024 first-round selection showing increased chemistry and connection with starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
“I would say just being a better leader and being better with my communication – whether that’s with the coaching staff, Trevor, the wide receivers,” Thomas said. “I would say that’s probably been the biggest thing for me.
“I was just being super intentional about that. Just trying to grow in all the little things.”
Communication is key to what the Jaguars have built on the field and within the organization, an effort spearheaded by Head Coach Liam Coen. Thomas on Monday said his relationship with Coen has “grown a lot” since the Jaguars hired him as head coach in January 2025, with their ability to communicate being critical to that process.
“Just trying to be intentional about those little things, being communicative about the things that I’m seeing and just listening to the things that he’s seeing so we can be better as an offense and be better as a group,” Thomas said.
