PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An active barricade situation at a Phoenix bar is causing a road closure early Tuesday morning.
Shortly after 2 a.m., witnesses reported seeing a man pull out a firearm at Dunes Cocktail Lounge, located near 35th and Dunlap avenues. Once officers arrived at the scene, they made sure all customers and staff were safely out of the building.

Authorities have taped off the scene and have several officers with guns drawn set up around the bar. Investigators with Phoenix police’s special assignments unit are attempting to communicate with the man, who is still inside as of 7 a.m.
Arizona’s Family crews witnessed officers giving commands to the man through a loudspeaker and two armored SWAT vehicles pull up outside the bar.

Both lanes of Dunlap Avenue are currently closed at 35th Avenue. Residents and drivers are asked to avoid the area until the situation is resolved. Eastbound traffic is unaffected, police say.
