The wait for a new Avengers movie has been long, but Marvel is doing its best to make the time fly by. We, of course, know that the studio is re-releasing Avengers: Endgame on September 25, with the new title Avengers Endgame: Encore. We also know that the film will include footage that will provide audiences with a brand-new tease for Avengers: Doomsday. Now, we have a trailer for Encore, and it will give you chills just like you had back in the summer of 2019.
The first trailer for Avengers Endgame: Encore is here, and it features footage of audiences reacting to the film inside a theater seven years ago. We’ve probably all seen the footage and maybe even had a similar experience ourselves. But somehow watching it like this, in the run-up to seeing the film in theaters again, is extra special. And also a little weird.
We can’t help but wonder: is this Marvel endorsing people filming in movie theaters? You just know people are going to be doing this like crazy, not just for Endgame, but Doomsday too, trying to get that next viral clip for their social media. That side of it kind of stinks.
And yet, it’s hard to deny the cathartic satisfaction Endgame provided. It really did an excellent job of paying off so many promises and stories set up over the previous 11 years. Can Avengers: Doomsday, with a much muddier setup, do the same? Well, we’ll find out starting with this.
We don’t yet know what, specifically, the Doomsday tease in Endgame will be, but, if you remember at the time, much was made of the fact that Endgame did not have an end credits sequence. It didn’t need one. It was the end. Now, though, it’s not the end, so our guess is whatever tease Marvel has in store will come at the end of the credits.
