Phoenix has seen many school closures in recent years, sending students to other schools. That can change how many students are crossing the street at the new schools each morning and how many parents’ vehicles are dropping students off.
Phoenix Vision Zero Community Advisory Committee Member Joseph Yuhas on Wednesday asked city staff what they do to make sure the schools are prepared for the traffic changes from that influx of students.
“Because now you’re putting children, students, in an environment they’re not accustomed to. It’s new to them,” Yuhas said during Wednesday’s meeting.
