An alert for an increased risk of heat-related illnesses is present Tuesday for much of North Texas, but Wednesday and Thursday look to be even hotter.
The high Tuesday at DFW International Airport, the official climate location for the region, is forecast to reach 99 degrees. The National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office had previously listed Tuesday’s high at 100, but inched it down as the day drew closer. Wednesday and Thursday still have projected highs of 102 as of Tuesday morning.
The heat advisory, which is currently in effect through 7 p.m., warns of heat index values up to 107 possible across the region. The heat index, or “feels like” temperature, measures how the environment feels to the human body, factoring in humidity and air temperature. The advisory is likely to be extended for the sweltering conditions midweek, but had not been officially announced yet as of Tuesday morning.
Across the next several days, clear skies and full sun are expected.
