Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division were in pursuit of motorist wanted for alleged assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer Wednesday night.
It’s unclear exactly what time the pursuit was initiated, but the suspect was leading officers in chase on the 101 Freeway after being on surface streets in North Hollywood just before 9 p.m.
Preliminary, though unconfirmed, information suggests the driver, behind the wheel of a white Lexus sedan, may be tied to an Armenian gang, is possibly armed and dangerous and is wanted on multiple felony charges.

The chase came to a crawl on the 5 Freeway after it appeared that the vehicle’s front passenger tire was damaged, later continuing onto surface streets at similarly slow speeds.
It did not appear that there was anyone else in the vehicle with the driver, who had the window down and appeared to be smoking cigarettes.
Police officials were talking about bringing in LAPD’s Metro Division, possibly SWAT, approximately 90 minutes into the slow-speed chase.
