DaVinci Vaporizers has officially launched a new high-tech rig that will come to New York City dispensaries later this year.
Since 2011, DaVinci has been working to fill a gap in the cannabis industry. In those days, many vaporizers were made out of plastic or butane and were really impractical in terms of portability.
“We saw that there was a hole, and we’re like, ‘We can build something better.’ And so we wanted to make this health forward way of consuming cannabis the cleanest and healthiest that we can by using the best materials and so we sought out how to do that,” said Shauntel Ludwig, CEO of Synergy Innovation, makers of DaVinci Vaporizers. “The first DaVinci came out in 2012 and we just kept building on that same principle of harm reduction, including material selection.”
With this in mind, Ludwig told amNewYork that DaVinci listens to what the market wants when they develop their products. In 2014, the company brought the first glass vaporizer to the market, and since then, DaVinci has played around with different types of materials to build their vapes out of.
“We brought forth the first glass-on-glass vaporizer and then we’re like, ‘Oh, this is breaking a lot. Let’s move to Zirconia Ceramic,’ so that we have less RMAs and less higher costs for replacements for the customers,” said Ludwig. “We also thought, ‘ hey, people are really tuning into terpenes right now.’ Let’s really build out precision temperature control so that they can pinpoint these specific cannabinoids, so they can get what they want out of a session.”
DaVinci’s newest vaporizer, the Electric Quartz Rig, is the latest in DaVinci’s goals to deliver pure, smooth cannabis to their consumers. The new rig, currently available online, is expected to retail in New York City dispensaries later this year.

Available in four colors (Onyx, Gunmetal, Sapphire and Amethyst), the rig features a complete quartz heating system for concentrates, a 60 ml jacuzzi bubbler, and a touchscreen control system.
“We looked at what was the problem with the current things on the market. Right now, everything had either a titanium banger or a ceramic chamber, and so the complaints around that was that people are like, ‘I’m never going to get the flavor that I get out of my quartz rig,’” said Ludwig. “We tried to fix that in multiple different ways, but we ended up doing the bottom heating with the course chamber on top of it and we did that for two reasons, to maintain the purity of the quartz and also because people were really frustrated with having to constantly replace their atomizer.”
The touch screen was added so that consumers wouldn’t have to download an app in order to use the vaporizer.
“I don’t want to have to use an app in order to use my device. I get it if you want to go and tweak certain settings that you maybe have to do once or twice, but you shouldn’t have to do it every single session in order to control your temperature,” said Ludwig. “I think that cannabis is an escape. I’m already trying to get away from my phone as much as possible. I don’t want it in my face when I’m in the middle of a session. So that’s when we introduced the touch screen to everything.”
For DaVinci, as the cannabis industry continues to grow, they will continue to experiment with their products.
“Cannabis is cannabis, and it’s constantly evolving. We’re really excited to evolve with it more in those phases that’s constantly growing and so expect to see some more products in those verticals that kind of touch everybody in every different price point and every different user,” said Ludwig.
