A New Yorker who vanished while on a work trip in Nashville before being found dead was discovered by a team of private investigators less than five hours after being hired.

Conor Anderson’s body was found in a woodline adjacent to a parking lot last Thursday near the city’s James Robertson Parkway – four days after he was last seen near a bar area where he claimed a group of men had threatened him. 

The 31-year-old’s cause of death still remains unknown, but new details have emerged relating to how his body was finally discovered.

A close friend of Anderson’s family hired Covert Results, a private investigative firm, to aid with the search effort, the organization said.

Investigators tried to retrace the Mets fan’s final moments – first heading to the area of Nashville where he was last seen, then reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses.

They spoke with “unhoused individuals” who “regularly spend time in the area,” which led them to search near the James Robertson Parkway, the PI group said.

Anderson was found in a “heavily wooded and difficult to access area” just before 6 p.m. Thursday, less than five hours after members of the firm met with his family.

Police quickly confirmed there were “no immediate indications” of foul play after the body was found.

“The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death,” they said.

Authorities have not revealed a date of death, but Anderson’s family wrote in their obituary that he died on Aug. 16.

Anderson was in town ahead of the Re/Max Broker Owner conference and attended a Foo Fighters gig at Nissan Stadium the previous night. 

He had been drinking in East Nashville but was seen looking disoriented in police bodycam video after flagging down two officers at around 1 a.m.

He claimed he had been threatened and seemed to suggest $20 had been stolen, according to bodycam footage.

“I met these guys, and I asked him if they would show me their neighborhood, and he said yes,” Anderson said. 

“They took 20 bucks from me, and then he walked out, and then he walked out to his group of friends, and then I can’t remember if he demanded or ended up getting another 20 bucks from me.

“And then him and his friends acted like nothing happened. Then they threatened me with violence. They threatened to run me over.”

During the exchange, Anderson looked unsteady on his feet and looked down at the ground, struggling to explain where this altercation happened.

He said it was in an alleyway, rather than a bar, and repeatedly said he wasn’t “familiar” with the area — again struggling to pinpoint an exact location.

Anderson lost his train of thought while recalling the conversation about a neighborhood tour.

“I’m trying to remember precisely what happened,” he said.

“I’m going to be honest with you. What this sounds like to me and this is just my speculation OK and I want you to be honest with me, ‘Were you trying to buy drugs?” a cop quizzed.

The cop warned that Anderson appeared to be “heavily intoxicated” and said his story wasn’t “exactly making sense,” but Anderson insisted, “on my life, that is not what happened.”

Anderson didn’t file a report for the alleged theft and was told to get back to his hotel safely.

It’s not known what happened to Anderson after the exchange with the police.
