Tom Thumb is eyeing another shop in North Texas.
The grocer, part of Albertsons, is looking to add a site in the northwest area of Fort Worth, according to state and local records. The multimillion-dollar project would cover more than 56,000 square feet, the documents show.
Construction on the new store could begin around the end of this year, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Details in TDLR filings are preliminary and subjects to change.
“We do not have any additional details to share currently,” said April Martin, director of communications and public affairs, in an email.
Tom Thumb, while closing a few stores in North Texas last year, has been adding locations as it looks to tap into the growing population of the region and compete with rivals that are expanding the number of stores, including H-E-B and Walmart.
Earlier this year, Tom Thumb launched shops in Argyle and Midlothian. The grocer has locations throughout the region, including Dallas, Flower Mound and Mesquite.
In Fort Worth, the grocer has sites near the core of the city and two that are generally in the southwest region of the municipality.
The store that’s being eyed in the northwest part of the city is set to be located at around 6250 W. Bailey Boswell Road and is part of the Boat Club Landing development.
