HOUSTON – Companion Energy recently spent the morning at the Houston Humane Society giving every animal a little extra love and care so they can look and feel their best for this weekend’s Clear the Shelters event, one of the biggest adoption days of the year.
Volunteers started the day by bathing Chachee, a 3-year-old shepherd mix and making sure the black dog looked — and felt — ready to meet potential adopters. The team also spent time with Deborah the pig, offering gentle handling and attention that helps animals stay calm around visitors.
The work wasn’t limited to small animals. Volunteers helped bathe and groom the horses available for adoption, including Ramses, an 8-year-old Arabian gelding who stands about 14 hands tall.
Companion Energy is covering Ramses’ adoption fee — and the adoption fee for Chachee as well — to help give these animals a fresh start and encourage local adoptions.
It was a morning built on teamwork and compassion. Employees rolled up their sleeves to do everything from scrubbing and brushing to socializing animals so they’re more comfortable when families visit. Those little moments of patience and affection make a big difference, especially on high-profile adoption days when first impressions count.
Companion Energy — which provides electricity service in Texas — also supports pet owners through plan benefits, including free tele-vet appointments with every plan. That combination of community volunteerism and practical support demonstrates how local businesses can help animals and the people who love them.
