13-year-old charged in fatal shooting of 8-year-old in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO — A 13-year-old boy has been charged with manslaughter after the fatal shooting of 8-year-old Daniel Casares, police said.

Daniel was struck in the neck by a bullet and later pronounced dead.

Investigators believe the 13-year-old was handling the gun when it discharged. He was arrested and remains in custody following a judge’s order on Monday. His name has not been released due to his age.
