Billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban said generic medicines are already competitively priced in the U.S., while pharmacy benefit managers are making it harder for consumers to access cheaper brand-name drugs.
Cuban Targets PBMs
On Tuesday, Cuban made the comments in a post on X while discussing prescription drug prices.
“Actually, our prices on generics are lower than most of the world,” Cuban said.
He added, “We get requests to buy from everywhere.”
He said his company does not sell many brand-name medicines because Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) “won’t allow manufacturers to sell to us.”
Don’t Miss:
Cuban argued that his company could potentially offer some brand-name drugs at significantly lower prices if manufacturers were able to sell them through his platform.
“For many of those brand meds, if we could sell at our 15% markup, we would be at or near their pricing and in some cases lower,” he said.
Cuban then criticized the role of large healthcare companies and PBMs in determining drug prices.
“As long as we let the big conglomerates and their PBMs set pricing, we will always pay more,” Cuban said.
He added, “They are Too Big To Care!”

White House Touted Drug Price Drop
The White House highlighted a 3.1% year-over-year decline in prescription drug prices in July, calling it evidence of President Donald Trump’s success.
However, experts said the drop was more likely driven by Medicare drug-price negotiations established under President Joe Biden’s 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.
Trump promoted the headline, saying, “I told you that was going to happen,” while the White House posted, “POV: you bring the receipts.”
Drug Prices and Medicare Reform
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) credited Trump and Republicans for lower prescription drug prices, saying they had fallen to their lowest level in more than 60 years.

A federal court also upheld the Inflation Reduction Act’s Medicare drug-price negotiation program after rejecting Merck’s constitutional challenge.
CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz said the administration plans to extend Medicare’s solvency through drug-price reforms, fraud reduction and AI.
He said 17 pharmaceutical companies representing 85% of the industry had agreed to most-favored-nation pricing and that some Medicare beneficiaries could get GLP-1 drugs for $50 a month, down from more than $1,000.

Building Wealth Across More Than Just the Market
Building a resilient portfolio means thinking beyond a single asset or market trend. Economic cycles shift, sectors rise and fall, and no one investment performs well in every environment. That’s why many investors look to diversify with platforms that provide access to real estate, fixed-income opportunities, precious metals, and even self-directed retirement accounts. By spreading exposure across multiple asset classes, it becomes easier to manage risk, capture steady returns, and create long-term wealth that isn’t tied to the fortunes of just one company or industry.
Arrived
Backed by Jeff Bezos, Arrived Homes makes real estate investing accessible with a low barrier to entry. Investors can buy fractional shares of single-family rentals and vacation homes starting with as little as $100. This allows everyday investors to diversify into real estate, collect rental income, and build long-term wealth without needing to manage properties directly.
FarmTogether
Farmland has historically held its value through market volatility and delivered returns uncorrelated to stocks and bonds. For accredited investors, FarmTogether offers direct access to high-quality U.S. farmland starting at $15,000 — fully managed, with no landlord headaches.
Fundrise
Private real estate and private credit can add income and stability to a stock-heavy portfolio. Fundrise offers access to diversified private real estate and credit strategies through an easy-to-use platform, with professionally managed portfolios designed to generate passive income and long-term growth.
Qnetic
As electricity demand rises alongside AI, data centers, and renewable energy, long-duration energy storage is becoming increasingly important. Qnetic is developing a kinetic energy storage system designed to provide long-lasting, chemical-free electricity storage, offering investors exposure to the infrastructure supporting a more resilient and reliable power grid.
EquityMultiple
For accredited investors looking beyond stocks and bonds, EquityMultiple provides access to vetted commercial real estate deals starting at $5,000, with only ~5% of opportunities passing their due diligence process.
