MADISON COUNTY, Ind. (WAVE) – Multiple law enforcement agencies conducted a four-hour search Friday morning after a resident reported seeing two large, exotic felines in Madison County, Indiana. The sighting remains unconfirmed.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department responded around 10 a.m. to the 10000 block of South County Road 50 West. A local resident reported seeing what appeared to be a 300-pound lioness wearing a blue harness, alongside a smaller cub estimated at 100 to 150 pounds, traveling southwest.
Deputies from Madison and Hancock counties, alongside the Indiana State Police, searched the area using ground units, tracking physical evidence, and deploying thermal-imaging drones.
No law enforcement officers observed the animals or anything unusual, and the active search has been concluded. Residents in the area are encouraged to remain attentive and immediately report any unusual animal sightings to local authorities.
