The 2026 PGA Tour season will come to a close this week in Atlanta with the top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings taking to East Lake Golf Club to determine the 2026 Tour Championship winner and FedEx Cup champion. 

The winner on Sunday will take home $10 million from the $40 million total purse at the Tour Championship, with Tommy Fleetwood proving in 2025 that a hot week at the right time is all that’s needed under the new format that got rid of the staggered starting strokes.

After Round 1, the top of the leaderboard is crowded, as expected. But a surprising name fired the round of the day as Min Woo Lee holds the lead at 8 under. Lee was bogey free on Thursday and had equal success on the front and back nine, with four birdies on each side to shoot 62. He’ll have plenty of chasers on Friday with Viktor Hovland, Collin Morikawa and Chris Gotterup all just two shots back at 6 under. 

Then there’s world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who birdied his last two holes to shoot 5 under on Thursday. Scheffler, who already collected a cool $23 million for earning the top spot in the season-long points race, is in prime position to take home another Tour Championship title at East Lake.
