An alleged gunman has been charged after a brazen daylight shooting in a kebab shop in Sydney’s west.
The 31-year-old was nabbed at Narwee on Friday, more than a year after three people were shot in wild scenes at the Auburn kebab shop.
Two masked men entered the eatery on South Parade at about 1.10pm on June 16, 2025.
Police allege the men fired several shots before fleeing the scene in a dark blue Audi Q7 with cloned number plates.
Three people were treated for gunshot wounds.
A 26-year-old man suffered wounds to his shoulder and arm, a 47-year-old woman was shot four times in the torso, and a 25-year-old man was shot in the face.
The woman and the 25-year-old man are expected to face long-term complications as a result of their injuries, police say.
Three cars were later found burnt out on Wigram St in Harris Park, Hilltop Road in Merrylands and Gerald St in Greystanes.
On Saturday, NSW Police charged the 31-year-old man with a string of offences including three counts of shoot at with intent to murder, acquiring a pistol and ammunition subject to firearms prohibition order, using and possessing an unauthorised pistol.
He was also charged with wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, participate in a criminal group contribute to criminal activity and driving recklessly.
He was refused bail to appear before a NSW bail court on Saturday.
In an update on Friday afternoon, Detective Superintendent Jason Box told reporters it’s believed the 31-year-old man they arrested was one of the two gunmen.
Police have also identified the second alleged shooter, however, he had fled the country to Thailand where he passed away in a motor vehicle accident.
“This was a protracted and complex investigation. Investigators toiled away for 14 months to charge the man and obtain sufficient evidence for these serious offences.
Back in March, nearly nine months after the shooting, police released CCTV footage from inside the kebab shop in the hope of appealing to the public for information.
The CCTV shows a dark blue Audi Q7 arriving at Main Lane in Merrylands about noon on the day of the shooting. It is believed the Audi travelled from the Guildford area.
The Audi is then captured again in Auburn before parking on Auburn Rd at about 1.10pm.
Two men leave the vehicle before storming the kebab shop and fleeing the scene minutes later.
The Audi was found alight in Harris Park later that day.
