Construction started this month on safety improvements at the intersection of North Beach Street and the Trinity Railway Express crossing.
The project includes new medians, paving, sidewalks, curb ramps, lighting, signage, rail pedestrian crossings and striping. The work will extend about 300 feet north and south of the North Beach rail crossing to accommodate planned sidewalk extensions, city staff and members of the contracting crew told attendees at an Aug. 18 public preconstruction meeting.
The $1.1 million project was funded by voters in the city’s 2018 bond program and by federal money.
The Fain Group LLC, the project contractor, started work Aug. 24 and plans to be finished in late January or early February 2027. City staff members said they expect crews to clean up the site daily.
At the meeting, Fort Worth project manager Paul Clutts told attendees that the city sent mailers to surrounding residents and other stakeholders notifying them of the upcoming work. Crews have posted construction signage.
Minor 15-minute traffic delays can be expected, and it’s undetermined how plans will impact Trinity Metro’s No. 54 bus service along North Beach Street.
