After closely watching the temperature gauge for weeks, it happened: Dallas-Fort Worth has officially hit 100 degrees. The first triple-digit day for 2025 arrived Tuesday just before 4 p.m. And it may get topped as the hottest day of the year in the next 24 hours, as it’s forecasted to get even hotter.

The National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office has projected that Wednesday and Thursday will both reach a high of 103.

The first triple-digit day for the region has arrived later than usual, since the historical average is July 1. But it’s not unheard of for it to happen at the end of the month — in 2019, the first 100-degree day arrived July 30 and 13 more followed.

The heat advisory that has been in place for D-FW since Monday was extended through 7 p.m. Wednesday, with heat index values of up to 108 possible. The alert warns of an increased risk of heat-related illnesses and encourages people to practice heat safety when spending time outside. That includes staying well hydrated, taking frequent breaks in the shade and wearing loose-fitting clothing.
