One dead in Hwy 1 crash

UPDATE 5:15 p.m.
The BC RCMP confirmed that one person has died in a motor vehicle incident on the Trans Canada Highway on Saturday afternoon.
Officers with the Revelstoke RCMP were called out at approximately 2 p.m. to the crash on Highway 1 near the Victor Forest Service Road, west of Revelstoke and east of Three Valley Gap.
RCMP said in a statement provided to Castanet tha one individual was found deceased at the scene. The second person was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“The RCMP Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service Team is also enroute to investigate the cause of the collision.”
Officers are on scene, and the RCMP said no further information is available at this time.
The highway remains closed in both directions, eastbound at Victor Main Forest Service Road and westbound at Victor Lake Park. There is no estimated time of reopening.

The Trans-Canada Highway is closed west of Revelstoke on Saturday afternoon due to a vehicle incident.
DriveBC is reporting that the crash is one km northeast of Victor Main Forest Service Road.
Highway 1 is closed in both directions, and an assessment is in progress.
Travellers are told to expect major delays. There is currently no estimated time of reopening.
