Pittsburgh Steelers announce first round of cuts before Sunday roster deadline
Sunday, Aug. 30 is the deadline to reach the 53-man roster limit
PITTSBURGH —
The Pittsburgh Steelers released 11 players on Friday and two others on Saturday, just two days ahead of the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline.
Thirteen players were cut, including Mt. Lebanon High School graduate Alex Tecza and two former Pitt defensive backs, Brandon Hill and Tamon Lynum.

The deadline to reach the 53-player roster limit is 6 p.m. Sunday.
Pittsburgh will host the Atlanta Falcons in the season opener Sept. 13.
