PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It was nice to see some rain yesterday, with a few passing storms, especially up north — places like Anthem picked up about a quarter of an inch. This morning is quiet on the radar so far.
The extreme heat warning has finally ended. So far this summer, the Valley has seen 40 days above 110 degrees, including a high of 113 degrees on Saturday.
Today will be cooler, but rising humidity will fuel another round of thunderstorms. We have a good chance of storms again today and into Monday, and a First Alert has been issued for both days.
The cooldown is a welcome one — Monday’s high is expected to reach just 98 degrees, 7 degrees below average.
Later in the week, drier air will push in, and temperatures will stay below average Monday through Wednesday. Our average high this time of year is around 105 degrees, and it looks like we’ll stay below 110 through next weekend.
