MANHATTAN (PIX11) — Two bartenders at two Upper West Side restaurants are competing to win the contest for America’s Favorite Couple and they hope to use the prize money for their wedding.
PIX11 News first told you about them last Sunday night and they credit the story on PIX11 with helping them make it to this next round, the semifinals.
The couple was in Times Square Sunday holding signs and asking passersby to vote for them in the America’s Favorite Couple contest.
Evan Enslow and Aaron Prior have made it to the semifinals of this online contest from 200-thousand contestants to the final 200 in this national online competition by the professional fundraising company Colossal.
Evan and Aaron are both bartenders in Upper West Side restaurants who have been dating for three years.
If they win, they would be the first LGBTQ couple to do so and they’d use some of the $20,000 prize money for their wedding.
“We do love the money part, but it’s more important to us to be the first LGBT couple to win,” Enslow, who is a bartender at Salumeria Rosi, told PIX11 News.
“I never thought we’d make it this far but now I’m totally in,” Aaron Prior, who tends bar at Westerville, told PIX11 News.
The rules of the voting are that you can cast a free vote once every 24 hours. Every vote after that costs money that will be donated to a food pantry.
Voting for the semifinals ends this Thursday and the finals end a week later on September 10. And the winner will be announced on October 9.
