SAN ANTONIO – With the 2026 midterm elections nearly two months away, more than 1.2 million Texas voter registrations have been suspended, including roughly 153,537 registrations in Bexar County.
The suspense list identifies voters who likely moved and does not prevent them from voting on election day, so long as their address remains the same.
If a voter’s address has changed, they have until Oct. 5 to submit a new voter registration application to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 3 election.
The Bexar County Elections Department said a voter can be placed on the suspense list for several reasons, including:

Changing mailing addresses

Signing up for mail forwarding from USPS

Not responding to a confirmation notice

Election mail being returned to sender or undeliverable

Being excused or disqualified from jury duty because you are a nonresident
Voters can check if they are on the list by checking their registration status on the Texas Secretary of State’s website.
If a voter is listed as suspended, they will need to submit a new voter registration application to update their status. The deadline to do so is Oct. 5 for anyone who wants to vote in the upcoming midterm elections.
The Secretary of State’s Office said voters on the suspense list can still vote on Election Day, so long as they have not moved from the address listed on their voter registration.
