SAN ANTONIO – A physical confrontation turned deadly Sunday after a fight downtown, the San Antonio Police Department said.
Officers responded on a shooting call just before 5 a.m. in the 600 block of Hemisfair Plaza Way, which is located near South Alamo Street.
When officers arrived, they located a 35-year-old man, later identified as Jonathan Alderete, with at least one gunshot wound.
Alderete was transported to a local hospital, but SAPD said he later died from his injuries.
According to an SAPD preliminary report, officers learned Alderete and an unknown suspect were in a fight before the suspect allegedly shot and killed Alderete.
Police said the fight was over property, but it’s unclear what type of property led to the shooting.
At this time, authorities said no arrests have been made. SAPD’s investigation is ongoing.
