AUSTIN, Texas — As Texas Longhorns senior left tackle Trevor Goosby works his way back from a bone bruise in his knee sustained two weeks ago, the preseason All-American has reached an important milestone with head coach Steve Sarkisian revealing that Goosby practiced on Monday.
Goosby joined sixth-year left guard Laurence Seymore, who suffered an “injury hiccup” during the first scrimmage of preseason camp.
“I thought they both looked really good, so that’s a real positive for us,” Sarkisian said during his game week press conference.
After opting against entering the 2026 NFL Draft, Goosby’s season appeared to hang in the balance two weeks ago when reports suffered that he suffered a non-contact knee injury in practice. An MRI revealed that Goosby did not have structural damage in his knee, instead suffering a bone bruise with an initial timetable of two to three weeks for his return.
Goosby’s return to practice as Texas prepares for the season opener against Texas State in Austin on Saturday increases the odds that the Longhorns could have their star tackle available against the Bobcats, with Sarkisian likely to provide a more concrete update on the 6’7, 325-pounder’s potential availability during his Thursday availability.
Even if the medical staff opts to take a conservative approach with Goosby, he does currently seem on track to play in the high-profile matchup against No. 1 Ohio State on Sept. 12 in Austin.
