PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man who was arguing with a woman before being chased into the road and hit by a car has died, officials with the Phoenix Police Department said.
On Aug. 22, around 11 p.m., first responders were called to reports that a person had been hit by a car near 28th and Peoria avenues.
When officers arrived, they found a man, identified as Gregory Jones, 53, with life-threatening injuries, according to the Phoenix Police Department. He was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition, where he died on Monday, officials said.
Authorities said Jones had been arguing with a woman before the crash, and witnesses were chasing him when he ran into the roadway and was hit by the car.
Police said the driver, another man, initially left the scene but returned a few minutes later. Investigators believe he was impaired at the time of the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
