It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Irvelene “Nana” Hays, on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, a woman whose fierce spirit, adventurous soul, and deep love for her family will never be forgotten. Funeral Service: 12 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, in the Breyley Suite at Mount Olivet. Irvelene was born on April 16, 1938, to Francis Kines and Irvin Clay Canup. She lived life boldly and on her own terms. She had a passion for traveling, always ready for the next adventure. She loved motorcycles and the freedom and excitement they represented-a perfect reflection of the fearless woman she was. One of the greatest parts of her life was the love she shared with her husband, Tommy. Together, they built a life filled with love, memories, adventures, and family. Above all else, Irvelene loved her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were among the greatest joys of her life, and she cherished every moment, memory, laugh, and adventure shared with them. Her love was strong, unwavering, and something they will carry with them forever. She was known for her fierce spirit. She was strong-willed, independent, loving, and unforgettable. She faced life with determination and courage, leaving an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in knowing that her adventurous spirit lives on in the stories she leaves behind, the roads she traveled, and the family she loved so deeply. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Her legacy will continue through all those whose lives she touched. Until we meet again. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Hays; parents, Irvin and Francis Canup; and grandson, Parker Cade Phariss. Irvelene is survived by her brother, Butch Canup and wife, Lynn; children, Pamela Shoults and husband, David, and Robin Phariss and husband, Wade; grandchildren, Jake Stepan, Baley Ritter, Madison Del Castillo, and Shelby Shoults; and great-grandchildren, Parker Mason Del Castillo and Presley Del Castillo.
