Burger Bodega’s second location at 21904 Franz Rd. will officially open Saturday, Sep. 19, according to a press release. The announcement marks the restaurant’s first-ever expansion since the concept got its start as a pop-up around the Houston area.
“Katy has been on our radar since day one,” chef and owner Abbas Dhanani said in a statement. “It’s one of the most vibrant, food-loving communities in the Houston area, and we’re beyond grateful for the chance to bring Burger Bodega here.”
The Katy Burger Bodega won’t have a drive-thru, but it will have a dedicated pickup and curbside window. It will also have a patio for outdoor dining as well as the same menu as the OG Washington Avenue location. Katy guests can get the same smashburgers, chopped cheese sandwiches and milkshakes.
“This grand opening is for everyone who has supported us since we were slinging burgers out of a backyard pop-up,” Dhanani said. “We can’t wait to welcome Katy to the family.”
Burger Bodega’s expansion to Katy has been a long time coming. Folks on Reddit spotted the development as early as 2024 when a permit with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation popped up.
Dhanani’s smashburger concept got its start as a food pop-up in 2021. A year later, the food blogger (@houstoneatz) and restaurateur opened the first permanent Burger Bodega at 4520 Washington Ave. in November 2022. The restaurant has garnered rave reviews and mentions in national media, including the New York Times.
