An acclaimed Fort Worth barbecue restaurant is executing a nearly unheard-of expansion — abroad. Dayne’s Craft BBQ, the award-winning small town barbecue joint with elevated sides, meat, and hospitality located at 100 S. Front St. in Aledo, is opening a second location, of all the places in the world, in Taiwan.
According to owner and pit master Dayne Weaver, the new location will open in Taipei, Taiwan on July 31.
Weaver said in a post that he got a message about three months ago from some BBQ fans in Taiwan, which he did not take seriously at first.
“They were talking about how they wanted to come over and train with us and open a BBQ spot in Taiwan,” Weaver said. “And I told them, I’m not even going to take this serious unless you show up here and I can meet you and see you in person.”
Shockingly, that is exactly what they did.
“A week later, these guys fly in from Taiwan, they spend three weeks with us at our restaurant training and we developed an amazing bond — I love these guys,” Weaver said. “It was hard to tell if it was actually going to come to fruition, but I’m here, we’re doing it, they’re almost done building out the restaurant. They’re opening a Dayne’s BBQ in Taipei, Taiwan, and we’ll have some more updates here soon.”
Weaver first opened Dayne’s BBQ in a former burrito shop and Mexican restaurant in 2024. It started as a backyard BBQ pop-up that he’d host once a month in 2017.
They quickly gained acclaim, being named one of five restaurants in Texas on Southern Living’s South’s Best New Barbecue Joints list.
Fans make pilgrimages to their location in Aledo for their brisket, bacon brisket, pork spare ribs, turkey, and pulled pork by the pound and half pound. They also have BBQ sandwiches, a burger, and Southern sides like loaded potato salad, Frito pie beans, and mac & cheese.
The restaurant was also named a top 10 BBQ restaurant (coming in at no. 7) on Texas Monthly’s top 50 BBQ joints list in 2025. The burger’s hold their own among the BBQ and won the title of Best Burger in the CultureMap Tastemaker Awards in 2023.
“I really wanted to make this work to where we could have a Dayne’s BBQ in Taiwan,” Weaver says.
