PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver accused of hitting a woman in a wheelchair in Phoenix’s Maryvale neighborhood early Thursday morning.
First responders were called just after midnight to the area of 28th Avenue and Thomas Road. When they arrived, they found the woman with a broken leg, though it is unclear if the injury was from the crash.
Authorities believe the woman was hit by a black four-door sedan, according to the Phoenix Police Department. The driver reportedly left the scene before officers arrived.
The woman was taken to the hospital, where she’s expected to survive.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the driver or the vehicle to come forward. Tipsters can contact Phoenix police or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS, or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers.
