GRANTS PASS, Ore. (KATU) — The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division is calling on the public to help identify those responsible for the illegal killing and waste of a buck deer in Grants Pass.
The deer was discovered dead on private property on NW Vine Street near NW Highland Avenue on the morning of July 23.
The property owner reported hearing a single gunshot on the evening of July 21, but did not notice the dead animal until later.’
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Turn In Poachers (TIP) line at 1-800-452-7888, *OSP (*677) from a mobile phone, or email TIP@osp.oregon.gov, referencing case number #SP25347008.
When making a report, provide as much of the following information as possible:
- Description of suspicious activity or violation
- Date, time, and location of activity
- Description of any vehicle involved
- Name and/or description of suspect(s)
The TIP program, a collaboration between several organizations including the Oregon State Police and the Oregon Hunters Association, offers cash or preference point rewards for information leading to the arrest or citation of those responsible for wildlife violations.
Rewards vary depending on the species involved, with cash rewards ranging from $200 to $11,500.
