New York City summer has one last gift to bestow: beautiful weather for most of this Labor Day weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, skies will be mostly dry and temperatures will be perfect for all outdoor activities from Saturday through Monday. Though Saturday night will bring a small chance of scattered showers.
Starting on Friday, meteorologist Jim Connolly said cold fronts will bring drier, slightly cooler air to the city, bringing temperatures down to the lower 80s.
Connolly said Saturday’s light precipitation won’t be anything close to a washout. “ We’re not expecting widespread rain or rain all day, just a few showers in the afternoon and at night,” he said.
After that, Sunday and Monday will be dry, with temperatures in the mid-70s, according to the forecast — just slightly below average for this time of year.
It’s a far cry from the chilly, rainy weather that gripped the five boroughs on Memorial Day weekend this year, leading to a soggy and damp summer kickoff.
So hit the beach, find a city pool and soak up the end-of-summer celebrations, like Monday’s West Indian American Day Parade. Be sure to pack the sunscreen.
