Theft of property and criminal mischief
On Aug. 27, a student reported that the catalytic converter was stolen from his parked vehicle at the Centennial Court apartments, UTA Police Capt. Dean Peterson said. There are no suspects.
Theft of property in which the stolen property is less than $30,000 and is a stolen catalytic converter is a state jail felony punishable by between 180 days and two years in jail. A fine not exceeding $10,000 may also be imposed.
Criminal mischief with a pecuniary loss between $750 and $2,500 is a class A misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $4,000, confinement in jail for up to one year or both.
Offensive physical contact against a family member
On Aug. 30, following a domestic violence investigation, a nonaffiliate was arrested for assaulting her nonaffiliate husband at the Park Central garage, Peterson said. She was also arrested for an unrelated warrant.
The nonaffiliate was transported to Arlington Police Department jail.
Offensive physical contact against a family member is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.
This case is still active.
Criminal trespass at an institute of higher education with a previous conviction
On Aug. 29, a nonaffiliate was arrested for criminal trespass at the Park North garage, Peterson said. The charge was enhanced due to the nonaffiliate having a previous conviction for criminal trespass at an institute of higher education.
The nonaffiliate was transported to the Arlington Police Department jail.
Criminal trespass at an institute of higher education in which the offender has been previously convicted is a class A misdemeanor punishable by a fine not exceeding $4,000, up to one year in jail or both.
Possession of alcohol by minor
On Aug. 31, a student was issued a citation for possession of alcohol by a minor at KC Hall, Peterson said.
Possession of alcohol by a minor is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.
Duty on striking an unattended vehicle
On Aug. 26, a student reported that his parked vehicle was struck in the University Village apartments parking lot, and no one left the required information, Peterson said. A student was identified as the suspect, and both parties agreed to exchange information.
Duty on striking an unattended vehicle is a class C misdemeanor if the damage to all vehicles involved is less than $200. It is a class B misdemeanor if the damage to all vehicles involved is $200 or more.
A class C misdemeanor is punishable by a fine not to exceed $500. A class B misdemeanor is punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000, up to 180 days in jail or both.
