HOUSTON – A man linked to three shootings across the Houston area was found dead Friday after a police standoff in north Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
The suspect, identified as 50-year-old Pedro Gonzales, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after police located him in Houston.
The shooting spree began earlier Friday in Pasadena, where Gonzales allegedly shot his ex-wife at a residence, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Gonzales then drove to New Caney, where he allegedly shot a 52-year-old woman around 9:19 a.m. in the 2300 block of Thelma Lane, MCSO said.
Deputies and EMS responded to the scene, and the woman was taken to a local hospital. She is expected to survive and is listed in stable condition.
Investigators said Gonzales fled the New Caney scene in a gray heavy-duty truck.
While deputies were searching for him, MCSO was notified that Gonzales had been located in Houston, where he allegedly shot another man near Kress Road at a Burger King.
About an hour later, police said the man was shot twice, once in the face and once in the hand, in the parking lot of a Burger King in the 6200 block of East Freeway in the Denver Harbor area.
The male victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.
Pasadena police eventually tracked Gonzales to Houston, where law enforcement agencies responded to the area near Gaines Street.
A tactical team found Gonzales dead inside the back seat of a vehicle with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.
MCSO said all of the victims in the series of shootings were known acquaintances of Gonzales and are believed to be connected to an ongoing dispute involving him.
All victims are expected to survive.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators coordinated with the Houston Police Department, Pasadena Police Department and other agencies as the investigation unfolded across multiple jurisdictions.
The investigation remains ongoing.
