HOUSTON – A man has been arrested and charged with capital murder after a woman and a man were found shot to death inside an apartment complex management office in west Houston.
Court records identify the suspect as 53-year-old Derrick Duane Jackson. He is accused of killing Rosa Linda Ybarra, 67, and Felix Antonio Jimenez Macz, 47, on Sept. 3.
According to the criminal complaint, Jackson allegedly shot Ybarra and shot and stabbed Jimenez Macz during the same act. The complaint does not list a possible motive.
Houston police officers responded around 6:45 p.m. Thursday to the apartment complex in the 9500 block of Ella Lee Lane, near South Gessner Road and Westheimer Road. Police said a maintenance worker and a resident who was trying to pay rent discovered the two victims inside the management office.
Investigators previously said they did not believe the deaths were a murder-suicide and believed a third person was involved. Detectives were reviewing surveillance video and speaking with possible witnesses.
Jackson was arrested Sept. 4, according to court records. His first court setting is scheduled for Sept. 8.
