It’s a holiday in St. John’s as the Regatta Committee decided to go with the weather conditions presented to them today by Mother Nature.
Winds will be from the southwest 20-40 km/h under sunny skies with cloudy periods and warm temperatures.
The first race, the Men’s Amateur, goes at 8:00 with the two championship races at 6:30 and 7:00.
Keith White, captain of the course and vice-president, says it has been one busy period with the event being moved up one week because of the Canada Summer Games.
He says they have a few ATMs on site and Metrobus will offer a shuttle service from three locations. The fare is one-dollar but the correct change is required.
President of the Royal St. John’s Regatta, Ashley Peach, says they’re looking forward to a grand day for both rowers and spectators.
All information on the teams, races, transportation, vendors and fun and games can be found on the regatta website. Peach encourages everyone to come out and support the local athletes and vendors set up pondside.
