A brush fire that broke out Sunday morning in a Vista park prompted an evacuation order for nearby residents, but fire crews were able to quickly put out the flames and all evacuation orders and warnings were lifted within a few hours, a sheriff’s official said.
The fire was reported shortly after 7:15 a.m. in some trees in Brengle Terrace Park on Vale Terrace Drive, sheriff’s Lt. Kenny Lawrence said.
“It is pretty much done, mostly out,” Lawrence said around 8:45 a.m.
Residents living in the immediate area were ordered to evacuate out of concern the fire could spread to nearby homes, but fire crews were able to douse the flames and no homes were damaged, Lawrence said.
By about 10 a.m., authorities lifted the evacuation order, as well as an evacuation warning that had been issued for residents living southwest of the park.
Lawrence said he didn’t know the cause of the fire.
No other information was immediately released.
