PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It’s back-to-school time, and staff at one Phoenix elementary school received a big surprise as the new school year kicks off!
Granada West Elementary School was one of 24 nationwide schools chosen in the Crayola Creativity Week sweepstakes. Elizabeth Watkins, art teacher at Granada, submitted the entry for her school.
This is Watkins’ first year at the school and she thought it would be a great way to share her excitement joining the new school. The lounge was dated, and Watkins decided to make it a bright, welcoming space for her colleagues.
The school’s teacher lounge got a bright and beautiful makeover, all made possible by Crayola and Walmart. As part of the sweepstakes, the school received thousands of gift card cash to revamp the space, purchase additional items for the lounge and receive Crayola art supplies for their classrooms.
