Firefighters were responding Wednesday afternoon to an apparent fire involving a DART train that resulted in the suspension of the transit agency’s service through downtown Dallas during the height of the evening commute, authorities said.

Flames and sparks could be seen flickering from the DART tunnel located at Ross Avenue and U.S. 75 today about 4:15, according to a video posted on X.

DART officials said on social media that the incident occurred at the Pearl/Arts District Station, resulting in the suspension of all rail service through downtown Dallas.

DART also said that all rail passengers will experience significant delays while they address the situation. Shuttle buses will be available to assist passengers at the Victory and EBJ Union stations.

Dallas Fire-Rescue dispatched 26 units to the scene when temperatures were at or above the 100-degree mark. DART officials said no injuries have been reported

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire in the tunnel.
