A resident of Netanya, about 27 years old, was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the case of the theft of weapons from the Shayetet 13 base; the police attribute to him a central role.

Investigators from the Coastal District Central Unit arrested the suspect, who is known to the police from previous cases involving theft, burglary, drugs, and assault. His most recent arrest occurred only about a month ago.

The suspect gave his version to the investigators, but the police claim that it does not align with the evidence in the case and even strengthens the suspicion against him. At the same time, the stolen weapons were located.

This is the fourth person arrested in the case so far, and the investigation is ongoing.

Last week, a soldier serving at a base in northern Israel and two civilians were arrested on suspicion of involvement in a serious case of suspected arms trafficking, the police announced, in cooperation with the Military Police Criminal Investigation Division. This is a grave incident, in which there is suspicion of the theft of three M4 rifles from the Shayetet 13 base in Atlit.

The soldier suspected of involvement was brought before a military court for a detention extension hearing, and his detention was extended until next Wednesday for investigative purposes. At the end of the investigation, the case will be transferred to the prosecution for review. In addition, the detention of the two civilians, residents of Netanya, was extended by five days and by one week.
