HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WSAV) — Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue responded to a reported shark bite Sunday afternoon that left a patient with believed non-life-threatening injuries.
This was the second reported bite in the week, as the previous bite occurred Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 12:10 p.m., HHI Fire Rescue responded to a medical emergency at Coligny Beach Park.
The incident resulted in a patient who suffered leg lacerations typically associated with a shark bite, HHI Fire Rescue said.
Shore Beach Services and Fire Rescue personnel provided immediate on-scene care.
The patient was then transported via ambulance to a local hospital.
No further details could be shared about the patient’s condition.
