HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Congressman Dale Strong made a stop in the Rocket City Wednesday afternoon, where he spoke about the latest D.C. happenings at the VBC Saturn Ballroom.
Strong said that, after speaking with President Donald Trump, he is now 100% sure the headquarters of the United States Space Command will be relocating to Huntsville from Colorado Springs.
“Me and my staff have been in contact with the President, the President’s office this week, and I’m going to say, I’m 100% sure it’s going to Redstone. The President has made promises related to doing what’s right for national security—every evaluation points to Redstone Arsenal. We have no time to waste. It’s time to go vertical,” Strong said.
Strong said the decision to bring the Space Command headquarters to Redstone Arsenal is long overdue and that research suggests that Huntsville favors Colorado Springs in terms of national security.
“I made a commitment, I want to do what’s right for national security, we did a lot of research, we want to be sure that we do what’s best for America. It didn’t take long to find out that Redstone Arsenal is best for national security,” Strong said. “If you look at it, we’ve got the right people at the right place at the right time. This situation with Space Command, it’s been four years. It’s past due. It’s been over four years since it was first announced.”
The Congressman added that the Huntsville-area workforce stems from over 15 different counties in both Alabama and Tennessee, and that he’s ready to get the ball rolling on relocation.
“I don’t care who makes the decision, we have no time to waste, it’s time to go vertical, we have assurances from the state of Alabama, local government, our workforce comes from 17 counties in Alabama and Tennessee, I think everybody is ready for this decision to be made,” he said.
