Barcelona’s economic situation has continued to hold the club hostage as they gear up for the new season.

The Catalans are yet to even register their two new signings in Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford, with just three weeks left before the start of the new campaign.

As time passes, there is a growing anxiety within the Barcelona supporters and perhaps even the club, who will be keen on avoiding the repeat of last season, where the club had to seek legal measures to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

Barcelona confident of registrations

However, Achraf Ben Ayad suggests there is calmness at Barcelona as far as the registration issue is concerned.

The Catalans are confident they will be able to register the two new signings in time and that they don’t have to wait longer to be able to play for Barcelona.

The Blaugrana do have a few levers they can utilise in order to register Garcia and Rashford, one of which is to utilise the salary of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who has been ruled out due to surgery.

If Barcelona can prove to La Liga that the German will take at least four months to recover, they can use 80% of his salary to register players like Garcia and Rashford.

However, it could come at the expense of deepening tension with ter Stegen, with the relationship between the two parties already hitting rock bottom.

Another potential lever for Barcelona will be player sales in August. A recent report suggests Deco has already highlighted players who may have to leave if Barcelona next month in order to clear space in the wage bill.

These players could include the likes of Andreas Christensen, Oriol Romeu and perhaps even Fermin Lopez, should Barcelona find themselves in a desperate position.
