PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A wrong-way crash has partially shut down a freeway near Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport on Wednesday night.
Crews closed the northbound lanes of state Route 143 near Sky Harbor Boulevard just before 8:30 p.m., according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
According to the Department of Public Safety, a driver going south in the northbound lanes caused the crash. Impairment is suspected and one person who tried to leave the scene is detained, troopers said. DPS said the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
No word on when the lanes will reopen. The southbound lanes are not affected.
