NC State football coach Dave Doeren had a very good end to his summer.
Doeren made a hole-in-one on a par-3 course in Missouri on Sunday, celebrating the accomplishment by running around once he discovered the ball in the hole. He used a 60-degree wedge for his first hole-in-one.
In a video, posted to the NC State football team’s X account, Doeren is seen approaching the green with his sons Luke and Connor.
“There’s no way it went in,” he says.
A few seconds later, he said: “Where else could it be?”
And sure enough it was in the hole on the 76-yard final hole on the par-3 Cliffhangers Golf Course at Big Cedar Nature Golf in Hollister, Missouri.
The hole is named the “Intimidator” and it features a large bunker between the tee and the green and another behind the green.
When Doeren saw it, he took off running with his putter held high.
“Are you kidding me?” Doeren said.
He pulled the ball, which had a Wolfpack logo on it, out of the cup and posed for pictures.
“To do that with two of my three sons with me was pretty special,” Doeren said Wednesday after Wolfpack’s first practice. “Good karma. When I looked in the hole, I saw the logo of the wolf looking back at me and it just made me laugh. That’s good karma. It was awesome. Beautiful place, too. The best part of it was to celebrate it with Connor and Luke.”
Doeren, 53, is beginning his 13th season with the Wolfpack. He is the program’s all-time winningest coach.
